Who we are

West of England Women’s Commission’s Women and Transport Task Group

What we cover

Travel is central to women’s daily lives — yet their travel patterns, safety concerns and lived experiences are still not fully reflected in how transport is designed and delivered.

To help change this, the Women and Transport Task Group, brings together key voices to shape a more inclusive transport system that genuinely meets women’s needs.

We look at the gendered issues women face when it comes to women and transport - with a particular focus on public transport and safety.

Our mission

To ensure an inclusive transport offer across the region, inclusive for women and men alike.

Who’s involved

We bring together transport partners across the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority region, which comprises:

  • Bristol

  • Bath and North East Somerset

  • South Gloucestershire

Chair: Pam Turton, West of England Combined Authority

Members: West of England Combined Authority, First Group, Avon and Somerset Police, SGS College, WSP, Confederation of Passenger Transport UK, Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, First Bus, B&NES Council, South Gloucestershire Council.

Our focus for 2026 and beyond
