Gender equality and skills mapping in the West of England
In order to address inequality, we need to invest in skills and make work more accessible for everyone.
Today the West of England Women’s Commission met to discuss progress on gender equality in the region.
We heard from:
Rachel Laurence – Head of Policy, West of England Combined Authority discussed the latest labour market statistics in the West of England and outlined ongoing work to address inequality and the gender pay gap.
Annabel Smith – Strategic Partnerships Director, West of England Combined Authority explained how equity is a driver of growth and discussed the collaborative efforts across the region to promote this.
Lucy Baker – Place Director, BSW, Dorset & Somerset ICB described the ongoing work in the NHS to make flexible work more accessible and support the next generation of NHS staff coming through.
Hannah Smith – Mayor’s Policy Advisor and Stakeholder Manager, West of England Combined Authority discussed the need to address social value and the Mayor’s priorities over the coming months for this.
Graham Smith – People and Skills Commissioning Manager, West of England Combined Authority outlined the evidence being collected around the lived experience of workers in the region, as well as how research and intelligence are being used to develop a commissioning plan for adult skills in the region.
