West of England Women’s Commission launches new partnership with Electra
Impactful work towards achieving equality in our region is best achieved collaboratively, which is why West of England Women’s Commission is now partnering with Electra, a Bristol based community for women in business.
This new partnership will see West of England Women’s Commission work alongside other partners and Electra to host a series of talks, networking events and other in person gatherings for women in our community.
Electra is a group for female entrepreneurs, founders and business innovators that exists to connect this community with each other, celebrate the female business community in the South West and overcome challenges faced by women as they grow, scale and exit their businesses.
It is supported by six other organisations, namely Bristol Innovations (University of Bristol), S&W, Birketts LLP, Kapel Consulting, techSPARK and Micrima.
This collaborative relationship comes at an exciting time for West of England Women’s Commission, as we launch our new Women in Entrepreneurship Task Group, Co-Chaired by Zara Nanu and Dr Ketch Adeeko.
Zara Nanu, Co-Chair of West of England Women’s Commission said:
“West of England Women’s Commission is about uniting local leaders around a single cause: to tackle inequality and improve the lives of women in our region. Through our new Women in Entrepreneurship Task Group, and this collaboration with Electra, we’ll be well placed to support a wave of female-led business in the West. We’re excited for what’s to come”.
Briony Phillips, Founder and Convenor at Electra said:
“At Electra we create opportunities for women to connect, share expertise and learn together in order to ensure leadership positions in our city region reflect the diversity here. It isn’t just a talking shop: it’s a space where things happen. Already, this community has helped women secure new roles, find board members, close investments, land new clients, and aim higher. Support from West of England Women’s Commission means we’ll be able to reach even further into our community and continue to make a difference for the women who need us”.
